Enthusiasm for owning stocks continued in the first quarter as the S&P 500 returned 10.6%, a second straight double-digit quarterly gain and the strongest start to a year since 2019. Since the last trading day of 2023, the S&P 500 logged 24 successively higher closes and reached a new all-time high on the final trading day of the quarter.
