Light the Night Long Island
Everyone with blood cancer deserves a longer, better life. On Saturday, October 18, 2025, we will come together at Eisenhower Park in East Meadow, NY for Light The Night. This inspiring evening unites survivors, families, and community partners in a shared mission to bring light to the darkness of blood cancer. We walk to honor those in treatment, celebrate survivors, remember loved ones lost, and stand together with hope, strength, and determination to help end blood cancers once and for all.
This year, Opal Wealth Advisors is proud to contribute $25,000 to Blood Cancer United, formerly known as the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, to help advance groundbreaking research and provide vital support for patients when it’s needed most. As part of this special evening, we will host a private tent for clients, friends, and family to gather, connect, and share in what is always an inspiring night.

Why We Walk
Every step taken at Light The Night helps the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society fund lifesaving research, provide patient support, and bring us closer to a world without blood cancers. By walking with us, you’re joining a community that believes in hope, healing, and progress.
From Our Team:
- “Forty years ago, I was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma. I was just a kid, but I remember those moments as clearly as if they happened yesterday. Not just the pain and fear, but also the compassion—the people who showed up for me, who made sure I was never alone. That’s what Light The Night represents to me. It’s a chance to walk in honor of those who’ve been through blood cancer, to remember those we’ve lost, and to celebrate the progress we’ve made. But most of all, it’s a chance to be there-for patients, families, doctors, and nurses-the same way others were there for me.” Jesse Giordano, CFP®, CAP®, RLP®, CBEC®, Financial Advisor, Principal
- “I walk to honor my friend and former Opal intern Ian Myer for his courage and determination in his recent battle with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. Ian recently completed his treatment and is thriving!” Joseph N. Filosa, CFP®, CLU®, Financial Advisor, Principal
- “I am walking in the Light the Night Blood Cancers United event in loving memory of my cousin, Peter J. Marcelle, who bravely battled multiple myeloma. Peter was more than family to me. He was a source of strength, laughter, and love and his courage throughout his fight continues to inspire me every day. I honor Peter’s legacy and stand with others affected by blood cancers by participating in this event. I walk to raise awareness, to support life-saving research, and to bring hope to families facing the same fight.” Christine Ketcham, Relationship Manager
- “I’m participating in Light The Night in honor of Owen Lomot, a blood cancer thriver who was diagnosed with b-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia at just four years old in December 2020. I used to babysit Owen and his twin brother, Drew, when they were only three months old. His courage inspires me every day, and I want to help raise awareness for the incredible impact Blood Cancer United has had on Owen’s life and the lives of so many children.” Brittany Siemer, Marketing Manager
- “I walk for the ones who can’t, the fighters, the survivors, and in memory of those we carry in our hearts.” Taylor De Stefani, Client Service Associate
- “I walk for Jesse — for his strength, his courage, and his journey. I walk for all the survivors who’ve battled blood cancers and won. I walk for the fighters still in the thick of it — for their resilience and hope because none of us should fight alone. I walk for Ian Myer for his strength, his courage and the bright future that lies ahead. I walk for Penny Wood – an inspiration, a fighter, a champion, and a force to be reckoned with. Her strength Lights The Night.” – Eugenia Kalaitzidis, Service Team Manager
- “I will be participating in the Light The Night walk for Blood Cancer United to raise awareness and support for those battling blood cancers. This cause is deeply personal to me, as I want to honor the courageous individuals who fight these diseases and remember those we have lost. By walking, I aim to bring hope, inspire others, and contribute to vital research and patient support initiatives. Together, we can make a difference and light the way toward a future without cancer.” Tiffany Melendez, Relationship Manager
